Our commitment to education and the development of Jamaica is a fundamental component of our vision.
When we heard about Tech De Bus 2, we knew that we
had to be a part of this initiative. The great educational reformer John Dewey said
“If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow” This is
still applicable to education today even though he wrote this decades ago. The relevance
for today is still very clear. Our children are growing up in a world where technology is
the pen and paper of our time.
Tech De Bus 2 was donated to the Ministry of Education by
Programme for the Advancement of Childhood Education (P.A.C.E.) Canada. The unit has been
out of use for at least four years, as there were urgent repairs that were needed to be
One main problem was encountered, as the cooling unit
was insufficient for the demands of the bus when the test run was carried out.
The Stationery Centre was approached with the opportunity to help and immediately took
action and the air conditioning unit has been replaced, and the bus is once again ready
to visit schools. Students from the primary, early childhood and Special Education levels
will access services of the bus.
